The Wolverine Skyhawks encourages anyone interested in flying RC airplanes to take lessons with a flight instructor: and not to try on their own. This almost always results in a broken airplane. Like most AMA clubs, we offer free flight instruction to anyone interested in our hobby.
Lessons for the first two weeks do not require AMA or club membership. After two weeks, any further lessons will require the student to have both Club and AMA membership.
There are many trainers on the market. Some cost as little as $100 and are available at any local hobby shop. These aircraft trainers offer a lot of fun and entertainment, unfortunately they usually do not allow for the use of a “buddy box”, where the instructor and student have separate controllers. If you show up at the field with one of these airplanes, we cannot give you lessons. For this reason, most instructors would prefer that you talk to them about aircraft options before you spend your money and show up at the field.
Instructors are available for “Private Lessons” to better accommodate your schedule. Please contact the flight coordinator listed below to help you get in touch with a Flight Instructor that best fit your needs. |
